Daisy became part of our family the year after we got Chili – in 2015.
She came from the same kennel – RedReynard’s in Gjellerup – and she was entirely Leif’s princess.
Daisy was a small female – somewhat smaller than desirable for the breed. But what she lacked in size, she made up for in energy and eagerness to work. Her sire was Shaggy Tollers Sergent Pepper, the first Toller in Denmark with the title "INTCH" (International Champion), and she had inherited his great enthusiasm and abilities for work.
Unfortunately, Leif was not able to keep her silent while working, and she made a lot of noise. She also tended to get very high-strung, which meant she didn't always think things through when working.
Daisy was trained in the Danish Retriever Club and started in working tests and C-trials. She qualified for the open class and competed several times in the open class. She handled the tasks very well but was marked down for noise, which was fair.
At home, she was a calm and quiet dog who loved to cuddle.
Daisy was put down in November 2017. She had for some time had stomach problems and periodically vomited blood. We had her thoroughly examined by the vet, who couldn’t find anything wrong with her. Then there was a period where she was doing well. But we had agreed that if she started vomiting blood again, it would be time to say goodbye. And after a longer good period, it happened.
Daisy was put down at home in the living room with the whole family present – including Vixen. We had her cremated, and she now stands in a very nice urn on our shelf, where Chili also stands.
